Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Ramirez served in the United States Army for 27 years. He held numerous positions which included Team leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Senior Advisor/Instructor/Writer for the Engineer Officer Basic and Advance Courses, First Sergeant, Division and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, Team Sergeant Major, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, and Brigade Command Sergeant Major.

During his distinguished 27-year military career:

  • Selected as one of the “Top Hispanic Leaders” in the Army in 2004.
  • Selected as a committee member of the US Army’s Special Executive Review Board for the Center for Strategic Leadership.
  • Graduated from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy where he was the recipient of the Sergeant Major of the Army William Bainbridge Ethics Award.

Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Ramirez’s education includes Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security with a concentration in Global and Homeland Security from University of Phoenix.

Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Ramirez has been a member of the University of Phoenix since November 2004. He has held numerous positions that include Senior Operations Manager, Director of Operations, Associate Campus Director for the School of Advanced Studies, and Vice President of External Military Relations. He currently serves as the Dean of Operations for the School of Advanced Studies.

Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Ramirez is the recipient of the Association of Latino Professionals For America’s (ALPFA) national 2017 Veteran of the Year Award and is the current Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Board for the Phoenix Chapter of ALPFA. He is involved in and supports a number of Phoenix-based veteran focused charitable and no-profit organizations.

Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Ramirez has been married to his wife Sonya for 41 years. Together they have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
