Joe Torres currently serves as a Banking and Insurance Manager for a high performing team of Insurance Senior Specialists dedicated to our membership.
What’s most important to Joe is creating an Industry Leading experience for USAA’s membership and dynamic environment for our employees to be engaged, to develop and grow. Joe fosters diversity in his teams and is a big proponent of the diverse personalities and experiences folks are willing to share.
Joe has had the privilege of working in several areas with insurance. Starting as a P&C Associate in Policy Service, Joe continued his insurance acumen by also working in other areas such as Auto Claims, P&C Instructor – facilitating all insurance classes, Insurance Relationship Specialist, P&C Underwriter and currently as a Banking and Insurance Solutions (BIS) Manager. Joe also serves as POC in our VETNet community, member of the Impact group, Elevate, Thrive and also serves on the Political Action Committee in Phoenix.
Outside of USAA, Joe still serves in the U.S. Army Reserves. Currently serving as a Company Commander for Bravo company, 492nd Civil Affairs Battalion. Joe has been serving in the military for over 15 years where he initially enlisted as a Private in Active Duty on June 23, 1994. Joe has had the honor of serving as an enlisted Soldier, NCO to Staff Sergeant and as a Commissioned Officer. Joe has been on two deployments (while working at USAA) to Afghanistan with several overseas tours as well. Joe’s awards include a Bronze Star for actions on the battlefield, Army Commendation Medal, six Army Achievement Medals, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, NATO medal, National Defense Medal w/ two stars and the Expert Infantryman Badge
On a personal note, Joe has two beautiful daughters with his wife Teri. Bella (born 10/22/2004) and Ava (born 11/6/2006) are avid Volleyball players and Girls Scouts. When Joe is not at USAA or with the military, Joe loves to just hang out with his girls and watch all sorts of movies. Even the young lady movies!!
Joe’s education includes a B.S. in Business Administration from DeVry (Summa Cum Laude) and M.S. in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Joe loves all topics of leadership and likes to read articles, reviews and books on the several topics of leadership.
